Conductor, violinist, composer, pedagogue and musicologist, Hanson enjoys performing with a large and eclectic group of ensembles in the state of Texas and abroad. Recently, Hanson received both a Masters in Music history and a Masters in Composition from the Texas State School of Music.  His research on African American composer Edmond Dédé has afforded him an array of speaking engagements and publishing opportunities and several of his new chamber works for small string and wind ensembles are scheduled for their debut performance later this year.  As a violinist, Hanson enjoys performing with the Victoria, Mid-Texas and Corpus Christi Symphony orchestras. He also performs as a violinist and vocalist with the string jazz trio “No Strings Attached.” Hanson currently resides in San Marcos, Texas where he is finishing his third Masters degree in Music Theory under the supervision of Dr. Cynthia Gonzales. Hanson is the founder and creator of the SMART Orchestra, a community orchestra he created to encourage string education in the city and San Marcos school district in 2009, which is now active in two cities in the state of Texas: San Marcos and Brownsville.  He currently works as the Artistic Director of the SMART Orchestra in San Marcos. In the near future, Hanson hopes to continue the success he has found with the podium in recent years by seeking opportunities to study and perform outside the state of Texas.
